Project details
- Date: October 1, 2026
- Location: Alexandru Domșa Technological High School, Alba Iulia
On October 1st, at the Alexandru Domșa Technological High School in Alba Iulia, we continued the marathon through the Zile cu Sens – Artă în Mișcare program — an event dedicated to seniors in the community.
The experience in Alba Iulia was built around movement and rhythm across generations.
Seniors took part in a dance workshop alongside children and volunteers from Alba Iulia, coordinated by Bianca Chirilă (Școala de Dans Chirilă), in an energetic, open setting where interaction came naturally to all participants. Local coordinator: Bogdan Popa, teacher.
It was a space where age differences no longer mattered, and the movement, laughter, and moments created together forged real connections.
An initiative carried out with the support of Asociația Provident pentru Educație and Provident România, as part of the INVIZIBILII program.
Why it matters
One of the greatest distances between generations doesn't come from a lack of desire to communicate, but from a lack of opportunities for people of different ages to meet in a natural setting.
Through activities like those in the Zile cu Sens program, we create such contexts — where seniors and children:
- interact naturally, through play and movement
- tell stories and listen to one another
- get to know and learn from each other
- build relationships beyond age differences
Experiences like this help reduce isolation and create a real sense of belonging.
How it was for participants
What I liked most was when my grandma burst out laughing at a wrong step. I didn't know grandparents could dance so well!
Andreea, 11, student
I forgot to even look at the clock! I had fun today, and the children infected me with their energy.
Veronica, 69, pensioner
About Artă în Mișcare
The event in Alba Iulia is part of the marathon organized for the International Day of Older Persons, held simultaneously in 6 counties across Romania: Alba, Timiș, Ilfov, Prahova, Sibiu, and Bacău.
The Artă în Mișcare concept brings together different forms of expression — dance, theatre, music, painting — as tools through which seniors can stay active and connected.
Nationwide, more than 750 participants took part in activities built around art and social interaction.
Impact
The Zile cu Sens program creates contexts where people feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
Through intergenerational meetings, participants:
- share their experiences
- develop openness toward others
- build authentic relationships
- connect with both their family and the community they belong to
- rediscover the joy of movement
These programs contribute to a more connected, more balanced community.
We continue
The Zile cu Sens program continues in several communities across Romania, promoting active aging, social participation, and connections between generations. For information about upcoming events dedicated to seniors, follow Asociația POT SĂ AJUT's Facebook page.
