Meaningful Days Art in Motion

In 2025, on the International Day of Older Persons, we expanded the Zile cu Sens program into a national marathon of events and activities held simultaneously in several cities across Romania.

Under the Artă în Mișcare concept, we brought together seniors, young people, volunteers, and local communities in a series of experiences that combined art, movement, and social interaction.

From dance and aerobics to theatre, painting, and film, each city contributed a different form of expression, tailored to its local community.

Nationwide, more than 800 seniors took part in these activities, built around the simple idea that people need to be together.

What we did

As part of the „Artă în Mișcare" marathon, we organized activities in several cities across Romania:

• Ploiești: dance workshop led by Petrișor Ruge
• Bucharest: theatre and music show performed by seniors + a musical moment with artist Walter Ghicolescu
• Pitești: dance and movement sessions led by Valentin Dobriță
• Sinaia: intergenerational painting and music workshop, with students
• Alba Iulia: intergenerational aerobics with seniors and grandchildren
• Iași: film night and cultural experience at Cinema Ateneu

Each event was different, but all shared the same goal: creating contexts where seniors feel seen, involved, and connected.

Why it matters

In Romania, more than 1.2 million seniors are at risk of poverty and social exclusion.

Beyond material hardship, one of the biggest challenges is isolation.

Through the Zile cu Sens program, we step in right here — through experiences that:

• bring people together
• create authentic connections
• provide access to cultural and social activities
• support well-being and active participation

Impact

„Artă în Mișcare" created a space where seniors could:

• move and stay active
• express their emotions
• interact with other generations
• take part in new experiences

For many of them, these gatherings meant moments of reconnecting with others and with themselves.
