Project details

  • Date: May 29, 2026
  • Location: Sf. Antim Ivireanul Retirement Home, Călărași

We arrived in Călărași with the Zile cu Sens program, and our first stop was on May 29th, at Căminul pentru Persoane Vârstnice „Sf. Antim Ivireanul”, where 50 seniors welcomed us with smiles, openness, and genuine emotion. Together we sang, applauded, told stories, and turned a few hours spent together into an experience full of joy and human closeness.

At the heart of this gathering were simple gestures: attention, listening, and the joy of being together. Seniors received flowers and small symbolic gifts, but the most important exchange was one of energy and human presence.

An initiative carried out with the support of Asociația Provident pentru Educație and Provident România, as part of the INVIZIBILII program.

Live music and shared emotion

At the gathering at Căminul pentru Persoane Vârstnice „Sf. Antim Ivireanul” in Călărași, this reality became even more visible: in Romania, many seniors end up living in loneliness or with far too few chances to socialize, even though human connection, belonging to a community, and recreational activities are essential for emotional balance and well-being.

The special moment of the day came courtesy of artist Walter Ghicolescu, who brought live music and warmth to a space filled with emotion. The songs became an occasion for memories, smiles, and conversation among participants. His presence rounded out the day's atmosphere naturally, reminding everyone that passion and devotion have no age.

We thank Sorinela Ion, psychologist, for her warm welcome and her ongoing commitment to supporting the center's seniors, helping create a safe environment attentive to their emotional needs.

How it was for participants

Today we experienced moments full of emotion and warmth. I was so glad you came, and we look forward to seeing you again!

Ion, 74

I loved listening to the music, humming along, and singing. Thank you!

Maria, 80

Why do activities dedicated to seniors matter?

Social and recreational activities dedicated to seniors help maintain emotional balance, reduce feelings of loneliness, and build a real sense of belonging to the community.

Through music, conversation, and shared experiences, seniors get the chance to socialize, express their emotions, and feel heard and appreciated.

Programs like Zile cu Sens support:

  • reducing social isolation among seniors
  • creating opportunities to socialize
  • boosting well-being through recreational and cultural activities
  • encouraging dialogue and human relationships
  • promoting respect and care for older people

Impact

We brought together 50 senior beneficiaries of Căminul pentru Persoane Vârstnice „Sf. Antim Ivireanul”, in a context built around music, conversation, and human closeness.

The gathering in Călărași shows that the social inclusion of seniors starts with essential things: time given, respect, and closeness.

Zile cu Sens continues to bring people, communities, and different generations closer together through activities that turn presence, music, dance, and dialogue into real tools for social connection.

We continue

The program continues in several communities across Romania, promoting active aging, social participation, and connections between generations. For information about upcoming events dedicated to seniors, follow Asociația POT SĂ AJUT's Facebook page.
